The panel will comprise Professor Christof Heyns, a member of the UN Human Rights Committee; Professor Nils Melzer, the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture; Jennifer Turner, the American Civil Liberties Union's expert on policing, and Terrence Williams, the head of Jamaica's police oversight body (INDECOM). The panel will take place at the Auditorium Jacques Freymond in Geneva on 28 June from 6.30PM.
The contributions will highlight the multiplicity of potential uses for the new website, from UN special mechanisms and treaty bodies to national policing bodies and oversight mechanisms, to practitioners and civil society advocacy organisations. The website, which already covers one in five states, aims to describe and analyse every national legal regime in light of international norms and standards by the end of 2019.
